When it comes to living legends the Faribault Woolen Mill is top of its class. Recently turning 150 years old, Faribault began carding wool for local farmers and after picking up a military contract in 1895, it expanded its workforce and capabilities immensely. Faribault produced blankets for soldiers in both World Wars, covered travelers headed West during the Frontier movement, and had its heyday in the 1960's selling its Pak-A-Robes to the country's finest department stores. The Mill remains a living testament to the art of American manufacturing and is the last woolen operation in the country with an ability to turn raw fiber into finished product under one roof.
